On this Sunday morning just two days before Christmas, I went out to get some pictures to show down Town La Paz.  There are many places to see and I never walked up into the center of the town where all the local commerce takes place, but believe me, it is interesting. These pictures  are of the sea side. Keep in mind it is overcast and I am not a professional.

I start with taking a picture of Juan Antonio, the specialist in fixing scallops. They are fresh out of the sea. He puts on them garlic, onion,  some other things and floats them in fresh lime juice just off the tree out front.

When I come back from the picture taking trip with the dog, they are ready. We have some tequila, put on The Three Tenors and enjoy a great meal  with a lot of laughs and love.

This is live in La Paz for us.

The metropolitan area of La Paz, the Capital of Baja California Sur is a little over one million.  There is wealth here and there is poverty as there is elsewhere in Mexico and the World. Everyone is industrious and the place is growing.

Homes in sight or smell of the sea are expensive--- from 100,000 US dollars up to and through $1,000,000. The real deals are out of town and along the coast to the South.

Good deals on the North side are further out and not so interesting.

There are locations of intensive agriculture. There are fresh vegetables and fruits produced locally and just about everything else comes in from the main land or from the California/Arizona border areas.

Meat is good and fresh, produced here. Chickens are in abundance as they are all over Mexico.

Electricity is relative cheap and water is almost free. Gas is used for cooking and it is very reasonable.

Many people make regular trips to San Diego but it is not necessary, it is more of a diversion.

Along the Coast down town. This is Sunday morining and there are not many people out. Later in the day and in the evening, there are many out walking about.

Along the walk there are many pieces of art by Mexicans and other Latinos. You are never far from original  art in Mexico

LOOK AT THAT SKY!

It is like this every day of the year. The air is fresh and most of the time a soft breeze comes of the Golfo de California to keep you comfortable.  The water is more clam than on the
Western coast of the Pacific. The water in the gulf is warmer than on the Pacific side of the Baja Peninsula.

La Paz is the capital of the State of Baja California Sur. It is just North of Los Cabos of San Jose and San Lucas, less crowded and  less developed. We do have big shopping centers, Universities, great health professionals and hospitals.

La Paz is a city of the SEA.  The life, the fun, the family all  involve the sea and its beauty

There are  plenty of great hotels here and many find restaurants and clubs. There are three churches within walking distance of our house! Nothing seems to minimize the pursuit of pleasure, however. We leave it to those commercial interests to advertise. We make money for
our favorite charity when you buy through our site. See below.....
Sea life is protected and  enjoyed. The National Geographic has a fleet of vessels for exploration and conservation purposes

The sea sports are fully developed here: Fishing, of course is more than a  sport, it is an industry fully developed. But deep sea fishing is enjoyed, whale watching, diving, snorkeling, water skiing, and kite sailing with wind surfing enthusiasts have found a haven here.

Nothing has been said of the curative power of the Gulf Waters and they must not be forgotten. A daily dip in the Gulf with a touch of bright sunshine and a moment of two enjoying the quiet of the beaches have to all help to lengthen live and facilitate good health... physical and mentally.
